al yamamah palace

Al Yamamah Palace (قصر اليمامة) is the official residence and primary seat of governance for the King of Saudi Arabia, located in the al-Hada district of northwestern Riyadh. Completed in 1988 during the reign of King Fahd bin Abdulaziz, the palace serves as the central hub for royal court activities, including the drafting of royal decrees and hosting of weekly government meetings chaired by King Salman .

The palace is renowned for its luxurious architecture, featuring Italian marble floors and intricately carved ceilings and wall panels. It is the primary venue for receiving senior state officials and foreign dignitaries, underscoring its significance in Saudi Arabia’s political landscape .

The name “Al Yamamah” is derived from the historic al-Yamama region in central Arabia, a region that played a prominent role in early Islamic history .

Al Yamamah Palace is not open to the public and does not function as a museum. It serves exclusively as a governmental facility, akin to the White House in the United States or the Kremlin in Russia .
